For Immediate Release
MARSHALL, Texas — Wiley University is thrilled to announce Homecoming 2024, themed “It’s a Family Affair.” This year's celebration will take place from October 27th through November 2nd, bringing together alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the community for a week of cherished traditions and exciting new events.
As in generations past, Homecoming will feature many beloved traditions, including the annual Homecoming Parade, the Miss Wiley University Coronation, and the highly anticipated men’s and women’s basketball games and tailgate. Each event offers the Wiley University family a unique opportunity to come together, celebrate our legacy, and create new memories.
The centerpiece of the Homecoming festivities is the Annual President’s Black Tie Scholarship Gala, a prestigious event dedicated to raising scholarship funds for Wiley University. This black-tie gala is a non-student event, with proceeds supporting the President’s Promise Campaign, an initiative to provide every eligible Wiley University student with a scholarship to attend the institution. The Gala will be held on November 2, 2024, in the Fred T. Long Student Union. Doors will open at 7:00 PM, and entertainment will begin at 8:00 PM.
We are honored to announce that Grammy Award-winning artist Chrisette Michele will be our featured guest artist at the Annual President’s Black Tie Scholarship Gala. Chrisette Michele is an acclaimed American R&B and soul singer who won the Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2009 for her song "Be OK." Her soulful performance will undoubtedly make this year’s Gala an unforgettable experience.
Ticket prices for the Gala are $85 for general admission (general seating), $650 for a table of eight, and $100 at the door. Seating is not guaranteed if capacity is reached, so we strongly encourage purchasing tickets in advance to ensure your seat. Tickets are available on our Homecoming 2024 website.
This year’s Homecoming introduces several new events that promise to engage and delight attendees. The 3K Walk/Run Fundraiser, hosted by the Division of Institutional Advancement and the Marshall Square Milers, will follow the same route through town as the parade, offering participants a fun and healthy way to kick off Homecoming. Additionally, during the Homecoming Fan Fest, there will be a special reunion of the A Cappella Choir of Wiley University, providing a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reconnect and sing classic pieces alongside the current choir.
