Acadeum Course Sharing

Online Consortia Courses

Wiley University (WU) partners with Acadeum, a course-sharing consortium of accredited institutions offering shared online courses. These courses allow students to stay on track for graduation when WU courses are unavailable or scheduling conflicts exist.

Advisors, Department Chairs, and Instructors can access the Acadeum catalog of online courses after being added as an authorized user by the Acadeum Administrator.

Student Eligibility Requirements

•       Be enrolled full-time at WU during the academic term in which they are seeking to take a course. Acadeum courses will be considered in determining full-time status.

•       Be in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or better). Students who are on academic probation are NOT eligible to enroll in Acadeum courses.

•       Be in good academic standing with prior Acadeum courses (students who have failed one or more Acadeum courses may not be approved to take additional Acadeum courses).

•       Be financially cleared at WU in the academic term in which the student seeks to enroll in Acadeum courses.

How to Register

Students who believe that they would benefit from enrolling in a course through Acadeum should contact their Student Success Coach or Department Chair for their major. Student Success and Academic Affairs will approve courses on an individual student basis.

For Students (WU students are not given access to the Acadeum Catalog)

1.     Students must meet with a WU Faculty Member (Student Success Coach, Department Head, or Dean) to discuss the need/desire for a course.

2.     Students and Student Success must review the evaluation.

3.     If it is determined that the student truly needs a course, then the student must verify that they are FINANCIALLY CLEARED.

4.     They must also verify that they have completed REGISTRATION.

5.     If the course is not currently offered at WU, then the Student Success Coach may reach out to the Acadeum Administrator.

Mapping/Approving Courses

The Office of the Provost, Assistant Provosts, Department Heads, and Student Success collaborate to approve a list of consortia courses that will be made available to students. In choosing courses, they review course syllabi, faculty credentials, and additional assessments of learning outcomes data.

Wiley University functions as a Home Institution (HI) and may also operate as a Teaching Institution (TI). As an HI, Academic Affairs and Student Success will approve courses for their students from the inventory of courses within the consortia to which they belong. An HI’s preference for consortium-based courses is based on the premises that:

•       These courses are eligible for financial aid.

•       Grades will positively impact GPA.

•       They can establish full- or part-time status for students.

Course Billing

Wiley University will bill the student for courses offered through Acadeum at the current on-campus tuition rate, which varies depending on the student’s current enrollment status and the number of hours for which they are registered. Payments must be made in accordance with the University’s existing payment policies and deadlines.

All payments and financial aid will be processed through WU.

Students with outstanding financial obligations are not permitted to take Acadeum courses.

For information about your overall bill or paying your bill, contact the Bursar’s Office at (903) 927-3207

Notes from the Registrar

•       There is a limit to the number of course credits a student can take via Acadeum.

•       Acadeum is not set up for students to take all courses within a semester.

•       Students cannot drop or withdraw from a WU class and then register for the same class on Acadeum.

•       For courses from Acadeum to count towards your scholarship, you must be registered for the course at WU. When the grade is provided, we add it to your transcript.

•       Courses taken by graduating seniors must start and end within the Wiley University Academic Calendar and adhere to grade submission guidelines.

Summer Registration

•       Students will not be enrolled in Acadeum Summer Courses during the Spring Semester unless they are preregistered during the WU Summer Preregistration period (contact the Office of the Registrar for dates).

•       The maximum number of Summer credits allowed for full-time students is 9–10 (with a 4-credit course included).

•       Any deviation from the above requires approval from the Office of the Provost.

•       To receive or use Financial Aid, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits.

Students Requesting Courses

At this time, students can only request classes through Academic Affairs or Student Success Coach.

Drop/Withdraw

If you wish to drop or withdraw from a consortium class, contact the Acadeum Administrator.

Please note that Acadeum is a supplemental option to a student’s course load and should only be utilized when necessary to support timely academic progress. It is not a guaranteed tool for fulfilling course requirements, and all requests are subject to approval based on institutional guidelines and policies. In some instances, the more traditional Transfer Student method may be the best option.

If you cannot find an approved course on the Acadeum website that meets your needs, or if you require general assistance, please contact Dr. Gaëlle Amazan, Acadeum Administrator, at gamazan@wileyc.edu or 903-927-3332. For emails and voicemail, please provide the course you are looking for. Include your name and the WU course that you are trying to match.
