WILEY UNIVERSITY APPOINTS DR. BROOKS ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
MARSHALL, Texas - Wiley University announces Darrius Brooks, Ph.D., has been appointed to Associate Athletic Director effective immediately.
Brooks joined the Wiley coaching staff last fall as the Character Coach on the men’s basketball team, helping the players prepare for the next phase of their lives after basketball and find ways for the team to serve in the community. He brings a wealth of administrative experience. Before arriving at Wiley, he was the Director of TRIO Student Support Services at the University of Louisville.
As associate athletic director, Brooks hopes to help the athletic department find sponsorship opportunities, engage in the community and increase retention among student-athletes. He looks forward to partnering with newly appointed Director of Athletics Rafael Gonzalez.
“Both Coach Gonzalez and I are champions for student-athletes and Wiley University,” Brooks said. “I believe we will be a dynamic duo that will work together in providing Wiley University student-athletes the best collegiate experience possible.”
Brooks is a graduate of Tennessee State University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida. Wiley University President and CEO Herman J. Felton Jr., Ph.D., J.D., is excited to have Brooks as a leader in the athletic department.
“He is a go-getter,” President Felton expressed. “He will be a tremendous asset to the Department of Athletics.”
