WILEY UNIVERSITY SET TO HOST DR. SAMAAD WES KEYS
AT 2024 HONORS CONVOCATION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARSHALL, TEXAS - Wiley University will gather for its 2024 Honors Convocation at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd, in the Julius S. Scott, Sr. Chapel to honor its top academic performing students.
The annual program recognizes students with a 3.3 grade-point average or higher for the Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 semesters. This year, these outstanding students will be honored through a celebration and a special convocation address by Dr. Samaad Wes Keys, Sr. Program Officer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Dr. Keys holds a Ph.D. in higher education - with a focus on administration and public policy - from the University of Georgia. Dr. Keys has dedicated his career to fostering institutional change. His expertise spans a broad spectrum of higher education areas, including curriculum development, faculty diversification, policy reform, and the enhancement of student success strategies. He is particularly noted for his work in devising and implementing innovative programs that address systemic barriers faced by underrepresented groups in academia.
“The achievements of our honorees reflect the culmination of their hard work, passion for learning, and commitment to personal and intellectual growth,” said Dr. JoAnn Scales, Wiley University Vice President of Academic Affairs. “I am delighted that we will extend congratulations to our academically exceptional students. It is with great pride and admiration that we gather for our annual Honors Convocation to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our top academic performers.”
