Wiley University “Returning to Its Roots” for 2023 Homecoming Celebration

Announcements
Oct 16, 2023

Wiley University announces the 2023 Homecoming schedule of community activities from Sunday, October 29 to Saturday, November 4, 2023. This year’s homecoming will be packed with musical celebrations, official announcements, firework celebrations, the annual parade, and the homecoming games and the President’s Annual Fundraiser Sneaker Ball.

“Homecoming is a special time for our campus and alumni,” Dr. W. Anthony Neal, Senior Vice-President for Institutional Advancement and Strategic Retention said.  “We are excited to offer a dynamic set of activities that signal the institution’s values. There are so many ways that we celebrate Wiley during Homecoming, from our special concerts and performances, to our Homecoming game tip-off. Whatever the event, we are excited to welcome our alumni home, and invite our campus members to celebrate Wiley.”

A special feature of Homecoming this year is an official announcement, during the State of the College Address, on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Julius S. Scott, Sr. Chapel. This official announcement will highlight how Wiley University will return to its roots and offer celebration of one of the most important moments in the institution’s history.

This year’s Homecoming offers some special experiences such as a V.I.P. Package which includes a Meet the Coaches reception, special seating at the homecoming games, limited edition t-shirt, and a ticket to the President’s Annual Fundraiser Sneaker Ball.

We invite the community to join us on Sunday, October 29, as we kick-off the week with the Annual Wiley University Gospel Fest featuring the renowned Wiley A Capella Choir, local choirs and a special guest artist in Pemberton-Hayes Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. That evening we will crown Miss LeAndria Jackson at 6:30 p.m. in the Julius S. Scott, Sr. Chapel during the 2023-24 Coronation celebrating “Wiley’s Dream Girl.”.

On November 4, 2023, the day will begin with the Annual Wiley Homecoming Parade at 9:00 am, followed by the Battle of the Bands and a Preview Day for prospective high school students. Tailgating begins at 11:00 am with the game day tip off at 2:00 pm for the Wiley Women Wildcats against Jarvis Christian University and 4:00 pm for the Wiley Men Wildcat against Louisiana Christian University!

Each year Wiley University President & CEO Herman J. Felton Jr. hosts the President’s Annual Fundraiser Sneaker Ball. Proceeds support the President’s Promise Scholarship Program that provides every student with a scholarship (amounts vary) that attend Wiley University. This year’s sneaker ball will feature the dynamic talent of “Total Choice.” Advance tickets are $85 for general seating and $650 for a table. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $100.
