Wiley University is honored to share a powerful example of belief in action through a transformational gift from Blanche Ingram ’45, who has given $173,000 in support of the University’s $5 million UNCF Endowment Match Campaign.
The Blanche and Jack Ingram Family have long been pillars of generosity for Wiley University, and this latest investment carries extraordinary meaning. As Ms. Ingram prepares to celebrate her 101st birthday, her continued commitment sends a profound message: the impact of Wiley University is lifelong, and belief in its future transcends generations. Her gift launches a special Founders’ Day Giving Challenge, inviting alumni and friends to honor Wiley’s legacy by matching her generosity.
In addition to Ms. Ingram’s gift, President and CEO Dr. Herman J. Felton, Jr. and Mrs. Katherine Bush Felton have committed $27,000, bringing the challenge total to $200,000. Alumni and friends are now invited to match that $200,000, resulting in a total Founders’ Day impact of $400,000 in support of Wiley’s endowment and long-term sustainability.
“We are deeply grateful to Ms. Ingram for her extraordinary generosity and unwavering love for Dear Ol’ Wiley,” said President Felton. “At 101 years young, she is still reminding us that Wiley University is not just an institution—it is a legacy worth investing in. Her example should inspire us all as we prepare for Founders’ Day.”
Ms. Blanche Ingram ’45 is Wiley University’s oldest known living alumna and celebrated her 100th birthday in 2025. In recognition of her centennial milestone and her extraordinary life of scholarship, service, and leadership, Wiley University officially proclaimed March 15, 2025, as Blanche Ingram Day.
A graduate of Wiley College (now Wiley University), Ms. Ingram went on to earn an advanced degree in Chemistry from Cornell University, breaking barriers for African American women in STEM long before such pathways were widely accessible. Her distinguished career with the U.S. Geological Survey reflected a lifelong commitment to public service and scientific advancement. She met her husband, the late Attorney J. Jack Ingram ’42, also a devoted Wiley supporter, while they were both students at Wiley.
As Wiley University approaches Founders’ Day in March 2026, the University proudly invites alumni, friends, and supporters to join this historic challenge—honoring Ms. Ingram’s legacy by helping raise $400,000 in collective support for the future of Dear Ol’ Wiley.
