Dr. Stanley Holloway
Dr. Stanley K. Holloway serves as Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Wiley University, overseeing the University's instrumental music program. He directs the Wildcat Marching Band, Concert Band, and Pep Band, teaches undergraduate music courses, and mentors students preparing for careers in music education. Since taking on the role, he has built the modern Wildcat Marching Band from the ground up, shaping a program grounded in HBCU marching traditions while giving Wiley its own distinct sound and identity.
Dr. Holloway earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Florida A&M University, where he performed as a member of the internationally acclaimed Marching 100. He later completed a Bachelor of Science in Music Production at Full Sail University before earning both a Master of Music Education and a Doctor of Music Education from Liberty University. His doctoral research focused on culturally responsive pedagogy, innovative instructional practices, and preparing future music educators to serve diverse learning communities.
Prior to Wiley University, Dr. Holloway worked at Edward Waters University as Assistant Director of Bands and Woodwind Instructor, contributing to the growth of the Triple Threat Marching Band and directing its athletic and concert ensembles. Before moving into higher education, he spent more than fifteen years teaching music in public schools, where he built instrumental programs that prepared students for performance, leadership roles, and collegiate study.
Beyond conducting and teaching, he works as an arranger, drill designer, clinician, adjudicator, and researcher. His interests span band traditions, conducting, music technology, curriculum development, and student motivation. Particularly how teaching practices and learning environments shape student engagement, with an emphasis on culturally responsive instruction in higher education. Dr. Holloway is also married to Shannon D.Holloway and together they have one daughter Samone A. Holloway.
Dr. Holloway maintains active membership in several professional, social, and honorary organizations, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Tau Beta Sigma Band Sorority (Honorary), F&AM, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is also an active adjudicator and clinician, working with school music programs and music educators throughout the region.
As Director of Bands at Wiley University, Dr. Holloway is committed to cultivating musicians of excellence while developing leaders of character. He believes that the marching band experience extends far beyond performance—it builds discipline, integrity, teamwork, resilience, and lifelong relationships. His vision is to establish the Wiley University Wildcat Marching Band and music department as one of the premier collegiate programs in the nation while inspiring students to "Come Build a New Legacy."
