From Student to Teacher: Wildcats Begin Inspiring the Next Generation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 17, 2025

Marshall, TX – At Wiley University, we don’t just prepare students for a degree—we prepare them for purpose. And nothing illustrates that better than the journeys of our recent education graduates, who are stepping boldly into classrooms across Texas and beyond this fall.

These Wildcats are more than graduates—they are dreamers, doers, and difference-makers. Trained at one of the nation’s most historic Historically Black Colleges and Universities, they’ve transformed late-night study sessions, hands-on teaching experiences, and a deep love for learning into careers that will shape the future of education.

Teachers are the heartbeat of our communities. They spark curiosity, build confidence, and help young people thrive. At a time when diverse, dedicated, and passionate educators are needed more than ever, Wiley University is answering the call—one classroom at a time.

“We are immensely proud of our education students — their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to shaping young minds truly set them apart,” said Morgan King, M.Ed., Ed.S., Assistant Dean of Education, Sciences, and Social Sciences. “Their success is not only a reflection of their hard work but also of our shared mission to prepare the next generation of inspiring educators.”

Meet a few of Wiley’s newest education professionals and the school districts they’ll soon call home:

  • Fatima Ortega – Detroit Public Schools

  • Kewaysha Alsup – Bastrop Independent School District

  • Dante Enriquez – Elysian Fields Independent School District

  • Alayna Francis – Houston Independent School District

  • Jasmine Howard – Houston Independent School District

  • Alicia King – Houston Independent School District

  • Kya Gray – Currently teaching in the Dallas area

Wiley University is proud to be a launchpad for educators who not only know their craft but embody compassion, commitment, and cultural excellence.
