Wiley Cares: A Roadmap to Student Success, is a re-imagined experience for students at Wiley University that focuses on student academic experience and completion. Developed as part of Wiley University’s reaffirmation of accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), this comprehensive five-year initiative is designed to enhance student success by strengthening retention, persistence, career readiness, leadership, and holistic development.

The Wiley Cares plan is our opportunity to curate our commitment to continuous improvement and student-centered innovation. The plan’s goals include a focused and articulated set of actions that increase student success by integrating career readiness, leadership, and service experiences; strengthening student retention and persistence through mentoring and community-building; and fostering students’ holistic development academically, professionally, and civically. Summarized into three core pillars of action - helping students persist to graduation through enhanced support practices, creating meaningful co-curricular learning opportunities in leadership and civic engagement, and equipping students with career pathways and post-graduate preparation in their chosen fields

Some Key Initiatives of Wiley Cares: A Roadmap to Student Success include:

  • iWiley Digital Learning Initiative: A technology-driven program that provides every degree-seeking Wiley University student with an iPad Air and bundle, making technology “the center of the learning experience.” By empowering all students and faculty with these tools, iWiley aims to improve learning outcomes, integrate innovative learning styles, boost student engagement and completion rates, and bridge the digital divide on campus.

  •  Wiley University Completion Promise Campaign: An outreach and support campaign inviting former Wiley University students to return to finish their degrees. This initiative offers returning students unmatched support – including university debt forgiveness to re-enter, credit for prior learning (up to 24 credit hours), and iPad technology bundle, giving them a clear, supported path to graduation.

  • The 120: Wiley University’s Pathway to Academic Momentum:
The 120 is Wiley University’s commitment to ensuring every student maintains steady progress toward graduation by completing 30 credit hours each academic year, totaling 120 credit hours for a four-year degree. Through coordinated support such as CTLE faculty development, structured advising, micro-credentials, summer/winter completion options, and student success coaching, The 120: Wiley University’s Pathway to Academic Momentum provides a clear, achievable roadmap for students to stay engaged, persist, and graduate on time.

“As we engage in the re-imagination of Wiley Cares, we are reinforcing our role in each student’s journey,” said Dr. Ouida McAfee, Assistant Provost of Innovation and QEP lead, who spearheaded the plan’s design and implementation. “This plan is about preparing  every student to reach and actualize their dreams. We’re integrating leadership, service, and career readiness into the fabric of student life so that each Wiley graduate can truly ‘Go Forth Inspired!’ . We believe Wiley Cares will ensure that our students not only succeed academically but also thrive as leaders and professionals in a rapidly changing world.”
The University has begun implementing the programs and activities campus-wide, with robust assessment to track outcomes like improved fall-to-fall retention, higher graduation rates, and increased career or graduate school placements for Wiley University graduates.
