Wiley University is proud to partner with the Marshall-Harrison County Juneteenth Freedom Day Committee for a day of celebration, reflection, community engagement, and fellowship. Join us as we honor the history and significance of Juneteenth through educational programs, cultural activities, and community-centered events across campus.

This celebration will bring together students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, and community members for a meaningful day recognizing freedom, resilience, and the continued legacy of African American history and culture.

Event Schedule

9:00 AM | Financial Literacy Workshop

Location: Julius S. Scott Sr. Chapel, Wiley University

Featuring East Texas Professional Credit Union on banking, retirement planning, and financial wellness.

Presented by Wiley University’s Financial Literacy & Wellness Center.

10:00 AM | Juneteenth Commemoration Program

Location: Julius S. Scott Sr. Chapel, Wiley University

Juneteenth: There is a Price for Freedom

Join us for a community conversation featuring Ms. Velma Banks, Juneteenth Celebration Advocate, and Dr. Safisha Hill, Historian.

11:00 AM | Juneteenth Parade

Parade begins at Wiley University

The parade will be led by Grand Marshal Marvin Bonner, former City Council Member for Marshall, Texas.

11:45 AM | 4-Wheeler Competition

Location: Alumni Gym Parking Lot, Wiley University

Community members are invited to enjoy the 4-Wheeler Competition following the parade.

12:00 PM | MISD 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

Location: Alumni Gymnasium, Wiley University

Join us for the MISD 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.

Participation Fee: $5

2:00 PM | Bo Green Domino Competition

Location: Alumni Gymnasium, Wiley University

The celebration continues with the Bo Green Domino Competition.

Guests are encouraged to come out, bring their families, and take part in a full day of activities celebrating Juneteenth, community, and culture.
