Wiley University is heading to Atlanta for a powerful evening of reconnection, inspiration, and community impact. As part of the national Wiley on the Road Tour, this event invites alumni, supporters, and friends to gather in celebration of Wiley’s legacy and its bold vision for the future of Black higher education.
Founded in 1873, Wiley University stands as one of the oldest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) west of the Mississippi River. Its legacy includes producing trailblazers like civil rights pioneer Heman M. Sweatt, Freedom Rides architect James Farmer Jr., Juneteenth champion Opal Lee, and civil rights influencer Zephyr Wright. These stories are not relics of the past—they are the foundation of Wiley’s present and the fuel for its future.
The Atlanta stop will also spotlight a major academic milestone: the introduction of the Truby B. Clayton Endowed Professorship, honoring the late Dr. Clayton’s more than 40 years of service to Wiley University. This initiative reflects our ongoing investment in faculty excellence and student success.
Atlanta, a hub of Black culture, civic leadership, and innovation, offers the perfect backdrop for this gathering. Whether you’re a proud alum, prospective partner, or friend of the University, this evening will be an opportunity to connect with fellow Wildcats, hear impactful updates, and affirm your place in Wiley University's ongoing story.
