Part of the School of Business and Technology
The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice curriculum focuses in-depth on the role of policing, courts and corrections. It further provides a theoretical foundation of the discipline combined with reasoning, judgment, and skills imperative to the profession. The degree is designed to prepare students to enter careers in law enforcement and/or related occupations and pursue higher education.
Objectives
The objectives of the Criminal Justice program include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Graduates of the program will demonstrate a depth of understanding in the field, communication skills, critical thinking, and technical competencies required in the workplace.
2. Graduates will be prepared to gain entry to graduate or professional school.
3. Graduates will be employable in their chosen area of criminal justice.
Criminal justice professionals include police officers, detectives, detectives, lawyers, probation officers, and deputies, while the criminal justice system includes a group of government institutions and agencies, such as jails, prisons, courthouses, and correctional facilities. Because criminal justice is such a vast field, it offers various careers.
