Master’s degree in choral conducting (doctorate preferred), choral music education, or related area. The successful candidate will have a proven record of excellence in choral conducting, with experience in teaching and conducting music; a record of sustained excellence in choral performance and scholarship at the higher education level; the ability to work with a diverse student population and to embrace diversity in their work; evidence of programs and programming of concerts that feature a broad selection of genres, cultural contexts and language; and a record of successful recruiting, fundraising, and managing scholarships.
Dean of Education
To lead the College in promoting cultural diversity, awareness, and sensitivity throughout the campus community. Unit programs, services and activities will promote cultural identity and understanding within a multicultural environment.
The Director of Choral Music/Assistant or Associate Professor of Music Education will direct the Wiley College A Cappella Choir with additional responsibilities, including fundraising, scholarship management, local and national tour planning, recruiting, and program growth; and teaching classes in choral literature and conducting.
The Director of Choral Music is also expected to:
- Direct the College’s choral ensemble
- Teach undergraduate choral and general music education courses
- Plan and conduct traveling events
- Promote the choral program on a local, regional, and national level
- Participate in recruitment
- Mentor students
- Promote ongoing, individual scholarly and creative activity as well as service to the university is expected
