Wiley College is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Dean of the School of Education position. The duties for this position include, but are not limited to: coordinates the activities of the divisional faculty; guides an appropriate evaluation process; teaches upper level courses in the teaching field; maintains standards of excellence in curricula and teaching methods; develops and promotes collaborative relationships and outreach to schools in the community; prepares and administers the divisional budget; maintains divisional records; assigns faculty schedules; assures adherence to state and federal regulations regarding teacher certification and accreditation, as well as policies of the College; assists in recruiting majors to the division; serves as advisor to education majors; receives, evaluates and maintains a file of course syllabi; directs the assignments of faculty advisors and supervises effectiveness of divisional student advisement; and encourages faculty to write proposals for submission to external agencies.
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in education or a related field; or its equivalent in the teaching field. At least five (5) years of administrative experience in higher education (or the equivalent) at the level of department chair or above including program development, budgeting, academic governance, evaluation and state and federal relations. Must have a distinguished record of scholarship and college level instructing meriting appointment of associate professor at a minimum. A minimum of 10 years of professionally related experience, including college teaching at a regionally accredited institution. A record of distinction in teaching, scholarship, quality publications or other scholarly work appropriate to the discipline. Must participate significantly in the life of the College.
