Wiley College is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Director of Student Achievement and Retention. The Associate Director for the Office of Student Achievement and Retention will assist all students, but primarily first-year and second-year students in improving reading and writing skills. The Associate Director will provide supervision and guidance for student tutors and structure small group tutorials (as needed); assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with Academic Success Coaches/Advisors, faculty, and other staff on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and help students strengthen their study skills, and provide intensive tutoring in English, reading, writing and other content areas in which students are under-achieving. The Associate Director will also plan and lead academic support workshops to aide student’s learning and understanding needs.
One to two years related experience working with college students in a higher education setting, which may include graduate assistantships or internships. Demonstrated use of innovative ideas in leadership development and programming for college students. Experience in developing and maintaining positive relationships with fellow staff members and campus partners. Experience in supervising and training student staff. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills (written and oral). Theoretical and practical understanding of student development. Preferred Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs administration, counselor education, or similar field. Microsoft Office knowledge necessary; Jenzabar, CANVAS, and JICS experience helpful.
