Our Alumni Spotlight for September shines on Mr. Kenneth Crawford, native of Memphis, Tennessee. Kenneth is a 2016 Wiley graduate and currently serves as the Associate Director of New Student Engagement and Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management.

After completing his bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Kenneth earned a Master of Science Degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. A life-long learner, Kenneth is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. He ultimately desires to serve as President of a Historically Black College or University. Kenneth lives his life by Erma Bombeck’s quote, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say I used everything you gave me.”

One of Kenneth’s fondest memories of Wiley College was having the opportunity to travel to The White House in 2013 to sing for Christmas with the World Famous Wiley College A Cappella Choir under the direction of Dr. Stephen L. Hayes. In addition to his participation in the choir, Kenneth also served as SGA President.

When asked why he felt it important to give back, he stated “I find it not only important to give back, but also essential. Wiley College has cultivated the lives of countless individuals and it is our duty as alumnus to give back in order to position our Alma Mater to continue nurturing the lives of those who will choose Wiley in the future; so that they too, may ” Go Forth Inspired”!

Kenneth is a devoted father to his fur baby, Max. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and a staunch advocate of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. In 2018, Kenneth was voted Young Alum of the Year for his outstanding contributions to Wiley College.
