Wiley College Wildcat Academy Announces 2023 Program
May 23, 2023
For Immediate Release
Marshall, TX
Wiley College will continue its summer opportunity for recent high school graduates with a 2.5 GPA or below who are interested in attending college! The Wildcat Academy supports students by bridging the gap between high school and college to increase their success at Wiley College. The program offers opportunities to save time and money as a student begins their journey as a Wildcat! Completion of the program includes earning up to 12 credit hours.
This is the 5th year of the program, and thanks to a transformation grant, the program received $25,000 to provide some of the resources for Wildcat Academy. After completing Wildcat Academy, students who enroll at Wiley College for the Fall 2023 semester will be eligible to receive a $1000 scholarship to be applied to their fall tuition.
“The Wildcat Academy allows students to increase their college readiness by obtaining college credit in a dynamic experience over five weeks! This program offers a way for students to get a jumpstart on college, earn a scholarship, and avoid costs associated with being unsuccessful in college.” – Mrs. Erinne Weber, Associate Director for Student Achievement and Retention
Students can complete College Algebra, English 1, Humanities, and Spanish during Wildcat Academy, along with access to peer mentoring and tutoring, college life such as living on campus, and social activities. Most importantly, students who participated last year all enrolled in college-level courses in Fall 2022. Students have become outstanding scholars in past years, earning some of the highest GPAs on campus!
Participating students also learn how to adapt to taking college-level courses, how to use college technology to strengthen skills, college services, and connect with students, faculty, and staff.
The program is open to recent high school graduates with a 2.5 GPA or below. Classes are held on campus for five weeks, from June 26th to July 28th. Students interested in participating in Wildcat Academy can contact Mrs. Erinne Weber, Associate Director for Student Achievement and Retention, at eweber@wileyc.edu.
