Caress Russell-Team Captain
Caress comes to us to the team from Atlanta, Georgia as a former collegiate policy debater. She competed for Mercer University and brings knowledge, along with previous experience, to the Wiley Speech and Debate Team. As she puts it, her best attribute is her “lovable personality.” |
Brittani Batts-Captain
Brittani was a successful speech competitor at G.C Scarborough High School in Houston, Texas and has been competed in speech and debate since junior high school. She was recently elected Freshman Class Business Manager. As a new participant of the Wiley Speech and Debate Team she brings great love and passion for debate. As she describes it, “I allow my own personality to be expressed through debate.” Her dedication and drive are inspirational. |
Sean Allen-Captain
Sean Allen is originally from Galveston, Texas. He graduated from Ball High School and brings two years of debate and acting experience. Sean also brings dedication and great leadership skills to the team. |
Tristan Love - Debate Team Member
Tristan is a debater from Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, Texas and has shown great love for speaking and inspiring others. He was featured in the Wall Street Journal for his work with young children to prevent them from joining gangs. He was chosen to represent Wiley College at the recent Southern Methodist University debates. He brings humor and high standards to the Wiley Speech and Debate Team. |
Cha’Mira Keener - Debate Team Member
Cha’Mira comes to the team from Houston, Texas and was a debater from Booker T. Washington High School. She was recently elected Freshman Class Princess and is a cheerleader. She is known for her quick wit and humor on the team. As she puts it, “I am quick on my toes.” As a new participant of the Wiley Speech and Debate Team, she brings knowledge and a phenomenal personality. |
Jendayi Douglas-Debate Team Member
Jendayi Douglas attended Santa Fe High school in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was a value and policy debater who was class president all four years of her high school career. This natural leader has won awards on the local and state level and is active in the church. Great things are expected from Ms. Douglas in the future. |
G’eral Eurala Crawford - Debate Team Member
G’eral Eurala Crawford (aka Rayla) joins the College from Houston, Texas where she attended Eisenhower High School. There she participated and flourished in speech. She was a state finalist in both the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years as well as a qualifier in the 2008-2009 University Interscholastic League (UIL) State competition. She has already shown herself to be an asset to Wiley placing second in Poetry Interpretation at the first two tournaments this year. She and her partner Jeremy Haynes also won Duo Interpretation at the first tournament of the year. |
Shekeylia Douglas - Debate Team Member
Shekeylia Douglas is a Wiley College sophomore whose talent led her to become a member of the debate team. A high school actress, she has already shown her penchant for speech in debate with success in After Dinner Speaking and acting events. Her personality and sparkling wit make her a tremendous asset to the team. |
Cary Chavis - Debate Team Member
Cary comes to us from Lake Charles, LA and had one of the top on-air radio shows on KWZA 1049. He is a seven year radio veteran and was the youngest radio personality in Louisiana. He assisted coaching the Washington Marion High School Speech and Debate Team, and therefore he brings great intelligence and life experience to the team. |
Terrence Muse - Debate Team Member
Terrence is originally from Houston, Texas and a graduate of Eisenhower High School. He was nominated for a Tommy Tune award and was chosen as a member of the one-hundred and five voices of music national choir. He brings a genuine spirit, great voice and willingness to learn to the team. |

Jeremy is the student government association business manager as well as an active member of the debate team. He is originally from Houston, TX and recently named an Nate Parker Scholar. He brings energy and his unique acting ability to the team. |
