Where are you located and what are the hours?

Health Services is located in the Fred T. Long Student Union Building, Room 116.  Office ours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What to do for “after hours” medical emergencies or if student health is closed?

Emergencies that occur after hours, weekends or holidays, should be reported at once to the residence hall manager who will make the decision to treat or transport the student to local health facilities.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is necessary to use the Student Health Clinic.

Can I get medication?

Over the counter (OTC) medication is provided to all students who request it.

If I go to the Health Clinic, are my parents notified or is any information regarding my visit available to them?

No, all medical information is strictly confidential and can only be shared with your signed consent for release of information.

Is there a fee?

No, the student health fee entitles students to health counseling and care for minor accidents and illnesses.

Does the Health Clinic issue excuses from class?

Yes, excuses from class caused by illness may be obtained from the Health Clinic when the nurse is familiar with the case and determines that an excused absence exists.  Permits will not be issued after the illness except as directed by a licensed physician in writing.

Does Wiley College provide a student insurance plan?

Yes, an Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan that is underwritten by Markel Insurance Company covers full-time students.  Terms of the policy begin with the Fall and will cover students from the first to the last date a student is required to be on campus.

Can I still get receive a meal if unable to eat in the cafeteria?

Meal permits maybe obtained at the Health Clinic when a student is too ill to eat in the cafeteria.  A friend may come for the meal permit.  On days when the Health Services is closed, the residence hall manager will provide this service.

Does the Health Service provide transportation for doctor’s appointment?

The College, with a two (2) day advance notice, provides transportation to health care facilities for appointments with a physician.

Will I need an authorization form before making a visit to a health care facility?

Yes, an official staff person must sign authorization forms before making a visit to health care facilities.

Who will file my insurance?

Health Services will assist you with filing insurance claim forms.
