Student Pastor and Organization Chaplain Ministry Covenant

Welcome. We are part of The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Wiley's motto is Wiley College "Achieving Excellence through Pride in Performance, a place where every student can succeed." A healthy sense of self is essential in succeeding in education and life experiences. In Campus Ministry, we recognize the road to a healthy self is centered in one's understanding of God's perfect love. In an effort to promote an environment which exudes the love of God, the unit of Campus Ministry is dedicated to providing passionate worship, biblical study, community service, a sense of inclusiveness and unconditional love.

Wiley College is a community of faith as well as a community of learning. Spiritual formation is a critical component of a student's spiritual experience – we strive to make Wiley a place where students encounter God and grow in the Christian faith.

Weekly chapel services are at the heart of spiritual life at Wiley. Above all, they offer a chance for ongoing reflection and a deepening of one's relationship with God. The content of worship is Christ centered offerings through song, mime, liturgical praise, and proclamation of the Word aimed at impacting and transforming twenty-first century college students. Yet, traditional history is reflected in each chapel service. Each service offers the opportunity for spiritual growth and strengthening one's relationship with God.

Living out our faith from a servant leader perspective is manifested across the campus through organizations, faculty, staff, and students as experienced on mission trips, community outreach, and collaboration with local churches.

God's presence throughout the campus is imminent in the enthusiastic voices of students as they participate in worship; the eyes of students who serve at the local nursing home; the hands-on interaction between faculty and staff with students as they go the extra mile with students in an endeavor to ensure the student's success. Wesleyan theology, that our salvation is a dynamic process – we are both saved and being saved, holy and being made holy (Acts 20:32; 1 Corinthians 1:18) is a way of life on campus.

Without much effort, daily one is able to experience God's amazing grace and His powerful presence on the campus of Wiley College. Perhaps the most guiding passage for my life and that which I offer to others is Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
