WILEY ANNOUNCES WINNER OF FIRST HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT

Byron Nelson High School of Trophy Club, Texas, won overall Sweepstakes in The Melvin B. Tolson/Denzel Washington Great Debater Forensics Tournament which was held on the campus of Wiley College December 7 and 8. The tournament was the first for what will be an annual event at the College. Students from 14 cities across Texas and Louisiana converged on the city of Marshall to compete in 12 events at “The Home of the Great Debaters.”
Schools submitted 184 entries to the tournament and a total of 128 students competed in the tournament.
Schools that participated in the tournament were Berkner High School of Richardson, Tx; Brownsboro High School of Brownsboro,Tx; Byron Nelson High School of Trophy Club, Tx; Captain Shreve High School of Shreveport,LA; Chapel Hill High School of Mt. Pleasant, Tx; Gilmer High School of Gilmer,Tx; Hallsville High School of Hallsville,Tx; Hooks High School of Hooks, Tx; Lewisville High School of Lewisville,Tx; Parish Episcopal School of Dallas, Tx; Pleasant Grave High School of Texarkana,Tx; Royce City High School of Royce City, Texas; Van High School of Van, Texas; and White House High School of White House, Texas.
