WILEY TO HOST DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES

Theologians to speak to theme: "God is Still Speaking in the 21st Century"



Wiley College will present the “Dr. Robert E. Hayes Sr. Distinguished Lecture Series,” Tuesday, September 25, 2012, in the Julius S. Scott Sr. Chapel. Keynote speakers will be Bishop Alfred L. Norris Sr., retired bishop of the United Methodist Church and Dr. Myron McCoy, President of St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, Missouri. Bishop Norris will speak at the 11 a.m. chapel service and Dr. McCoy will speak at the 6:30 p.m. College and Community Preaching and Open Forum Lecture. The guiding theme for the lecture series is “God is Still Speaking in the 21st Century.”
This annual lectureship series commemorates the Christian stewardship of the 11th President of Wiley College who provided stellar leadership to Wiley College from 1971-1986. It is designed to expose the campus community to world renowned scholars who can bring insight and a humanistic perspective to contemporary global issues.
A scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has demonstrated exceptional promise for ministry and can clearly articulate vocational goals in service to the church. The student will demonstrate a considerable commitment to the life of the church and significant leadership in school, church, community, and possess outstanding qualities of character and academic achievement with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
The event is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services of the College.
