Jameus Hartsfield, Head Coach

Jameus Hartsfield entered the Wiley College family in August 2008. His hard work and dedication however did not go unnoticed. He was offered a job by the college in February 2009 as Interim Student Activities Director. After accepting and doing an outstanding job, he now has a different title, but bring forth the same enthusiasm as the Intramural Director here at Wiley College.

He was born on August 31, 1986 in Marlin, Texas to Kenneth and Sonja Washington. In 2000, Jameus attended Marlin High School, where he played and lettered in basketball and track and field. After graduation, he played on a basketball scholarship at Texas College under Coach Andre Payne.

In 2008, he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education. Coach Hartsfield graduated with many academic as well as athletic accolades. A few in particular in which he's most proud of is he was on the Texas College Dean's list for three(3) consecutive years, the "Nations" Leading Rebounder for two (2) consecutive years, and also in his final season with the Steers he was named Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Coach Hartsfield is the proud father two kids.

Micah Tirop, Assistant Cross Country Coach

Micah Tirop joined the Wiley College athletics staff in August, 2012, and will serve as an assistant coach for the cross country and track and field teams.

Tirop comes to Marshall, Texas, from Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned his Master of Science degree in sports management in 2012. During his time at MTSU, Tirop served as a graduate assistant coach with the Blue Raiders cross country and track and field teams.

A native of Moi's Bridge, Kenya, Tirop completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Alabama. While attending school in Mobile, he was one of the top distance runners in the South Alabama athletics program, having earned All-Sun Belt Conference accolades 18 times in indoor and outdoor track and cross country.

Tirop was a three-time Sun Belt Conference indoor champion in the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races, sweeping the two events in 2007, 2008 and 2009. His accomplishments also include back-to-back Sun Belt Conference cross country championships in 2007 and 2008.

Tirop's distance career also included international competition, as he competed in the 5,000-meter run at the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey.

A versatile runner, Tirop's personal best times include running a mile in 4 minutes, 10 seconds, and a sub-30 minute time in the 10,000-meter run (29:18).

Tirop attended Uasin Gishu High School and Moi University in Kenya before attending South Alabama. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in business in 2010.
