Pedro Ithier, Head Coach

Coach Pedro Ithier joined the Wildcats coaching team in August 2005. A native of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Coach Pedro started playing amateur baseball when he was 14 years old. He represented Puerto Rico in the World Amateur Baseball Championship in San Petersburg, FL. After that tournament he was signed to the professional baseball by the Cleveland Indians organization. He received All Star Short Stop honors during his first year playing professional ball with the Gulf Coast League in Sarasota, FL. Coach Pedro played with the Cleveland Indians from 1975-1978. In that same year he was drafted by the Seattle Mariners, there he reached Triple-A level.

Coach Pedro is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico. He worked several years with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. In 1988, he began working with the New York Yankees as a professional baseball scout. In that position Coach Ithier discovered both Jorge Posada and Ricky Ledee who were both drafted to the New York Yankee organization.

Before coming to Wiley College, Coach Pedro also held an administrative position with the Mayaguez Baseball Academy Inc. where he was in charge of academy operation and player development.
