Wiley senior Alexandra Jeremiah was officially crowned Miss Wiley College on Friday night, but her resume illustrates that through her academic achievements and engagement in campus life, she has long been a queen and ambassador of the College.
An interdisciplinary studies major focusing on sociology, Ms. Jeremiah, 22, is earning the high marks that will bode her well when she begins applying to graduate school. Her goal is to become a middle school counselor, and she is already gaining experiential learning by serving as a mentor at Sam Houston Middle School in Marshall, the community in which Wiley College is located.
On campus, Jeremiah is a member of the A Cappella Choir, the International Club, and the Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She has also been inducted into the Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Honor Society of Sociology. Through her participation in these programs, she serves as a stellar example of the strong work ethic and commitment to excellence that our students embody.
Jeremiah is proud to be called a Wiley Wildcat. "What I am most proud of is attending a school with such a rich history of accomplishments," she said. " I am thankful for all the experiences and opportunities that attending my HBCU has afforded me."
When she is crowned Miss Wiley, Jeremiah said she will work to enhance the qualityof campus life for all students. "I want to ensure we maintain and build upon having a comfortable environment where all students can excel and feel at home."
A native of Dallas, Texas, Jeremiah attended Desoto High school. She is the daughter of Christopher Jeremiah, and her mother is Sherry Bean. Her stepfather is Johnny Bean. She has four siblings, twins Christopher and Christain Jeremiah(Christain is a sophomore at Wiley), 20, Jaylan Bean,12, and Kyndell Bean, 16.
