This weekend, The Great Debaters went in two different directions. Four students attended two debate tournaments at Western Kentucky University, and five students attended the Hill Country Classic at Texas State University.

At Western Kentucky University, LaKiyah Sain and Tiera Colvin were selected as two of twelve students in the country to compete at the Alexis Elliott Memorial Round Robin Tournament, an incredible honor. LaKiyah emerged as the only undefeated, but ultimately lost on a 3-4 decision in the final round.

At the second tournament at Western Kentucky University, the Fall Fiesta, Andre Earls and LaKiyah Sain advanced from preliminary rounds, with Tiera Colvin being the next to advance. Ultimately, LaKiyah Sain emerged as the tournament champion winning a unanimous decision in the final round.

Meanwhile, five students traveled to Texas State University to compete at the Hill Country Swing, which is two tournaments on the same weekend. On the first day of the tournament, the Great Debaters had four students who advanced out of preliminary rounds to the finals. Maliq Wright placed 4th in Communication Analysis, Jaeme Orfanos placed 4th in Dramatic Interpretation and 6th in Poetry, Morgan Lindsay placed 4th in Poetry.

On Day two, the great Debaters did even better than the first day. Jaeme Orfanos placed 4th in Poetry and was tournament champion in Dramatic Interp. Morgan Lindsay placed 3rd in Poetry, Maliq Wright placed 2nd in Communication Analysis and 6th in Impromptu. Rahmane Dixon placed 2nd in Impromptu.
