Wiley College will hold its 128th Baccalaureate and Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Alumni Gymnasium.

The keynote speaker for Wiley's Commencement will be Bishop Scott Jameson Jones, residing bishop for the Texas Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Wiley senior Quinn-Lee Ralph will share reflections during the ceremony. He is a  Computer Information Systems major  whose 4.0 grade point average is the highest in his class. Ralph is also a top performer in athletics at Wiley. As a runner on the College's track and field team, he has helped his team win four straight Red River Athletic Conference Championships, and he was   named a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American in 2015 and 2016. He is also a two-time winner of the Wiley College Athletics Department Male Academic Athlete of the year. 

Dr. Truby Bernard Clayton, Professor of Music and Lead Professor of Education, will receive the 2017 Exemplary Faculty Award. Dr. Clayton will also be the Grand Marshal for the commencement ceremony.   The Faculty Marshal will be Dr. Adrienne Moore, Instructor of Criminal Justice. Mr. Darrell Blacklock, Instructor of Criminal Justice, will lead the class of 2017 as the Senior Class Marshall. Dr. Solomon Masenda, Associate Professor of English, will be the Platform Party Marshall.
 
The name readers at Wiley's commencement ceremony will be Mrs. Lisa Taylor, Assistant Professor of Education, and Dr. Robert Hamilton, Assistant Professor of English.

There are 266 candidates for graduation in the Class of 2017. Wiley College anticipates that Alumni Gymnasium will  fill  quickly to its capacity to seat 1,800, as more than 2,000 family members and friends are expected to attend the commencement ceremony to celebrate the special day with the candidates.  

Overflow seating will be available in the Julius S. Scott Sr. Chapel and the Fred T. Long Student Union Building (John T. Appleton Dining Hall), where the ceremony will be streamed live on two screens. The College will also host a live stream of commencement  here on  homepage of the website. (Click "watch live" tab)
