Normal Maintenance and Repair
In order for work to be completed by the Facilities Maintenance Department, a work order must be submitted through the Landport System that describes the work to be performed. All requests should be submitted to Inventory Control so work can be scheduled.
Work orders may be initiated by faculty or staff. If there is an immediate need for work to be performed, the Vice President or Administrator of the division should state why the work is an emergency or critical. Emergency work orders will receive immediate attention.
The Department works in conjunction with the College Security in responding to emergencies on campus. In case of fire, explosion, natural disaster, bomb threat, serious accident or injury, personnel should take the following actions:

When an Emergency Repair of a utility or equipment presents immediate danger to life or property is required.

Request for Use of Building/Room
Administrative Services is responsible for Building Requests. Student Affairs approves the activity; however, Administrative Services is responsible for approving the use of the facility. The requests are to be received in the Administrative Services office ten (10) days prior to the proposed event.
External Building requests are handled by the Director of Administrative Services. That office number is 903-927-3384.
Keys and Locks
The Facilities Maintenance Department maintains a master file of keys intended primarily for duplication purposes and to permit routine access to facilities by the custodial and maintenance personnel. All keys are the property of Wiley College and the duplication of keys to College facilities by any persons, agency or company other than facilities management and operations is prohibited. The responsibility for determining the need for keys furnished to building occupants rests with the major area supervisor. A Key Requisition Card must be approved and submitted to the department for issuance of key(s). When exiting the College, all keys must be returned to Facilities Maintenance.
Requests for lock changes, additional building keys, as well as, requests for keys for departmental equipment such as lockers, filing cabinets, desks and most padlock keys, must be submitted on the Key Requisition Card (see Appendix A). In the event that a key cannot be cut at Facilities Maintenance, authorization to go elsewhere to have the key duplicated must be given by the appropriate vice president and the Director of Administrative Services.
In the event keys are lost or stolen, the employee should immediately notify the department head, Facilities Maintenance and College Security. The cost of replacing key(s) or lock(s) will be borne by the personnel or student and not the College.
Elevators are maintained by a contract service approved by the Facilities Maintenance Department. For elevator emergency or maintenance requests, contact the Facilities Maintenance Department at extension 3228. For any other questions or concerns, call Administrative Services at extension 3384.
Facilities Master Plan
The College Master Plan is intended to be a living document that is periodically reviewed to remain aligned with other College planning efforts. Presently, the College has selected a firm to update the 2002 plan which considered the vision outlined in “Pride and Performance, the Wiley College New Millennium Vision.”, the institutions strategize plan 2000-2005 and President Stricklands Statement of Vision titled “The New Millennium Achieving Excellence through Pride and Performance”.
The updated Master Plan was completed in the Spring semester 2012. The completed document will be a tool to make informed facility planning decisions.
President and Wiley College Board of Trustees approved the construction of a 500 bed residence hall that is located on Wiley Avenue adjacent to Jackson Hall. The “H” designed facility includes bedroom suites, computer labs, laundry rooms, study rooms, vending area, two elevators and lounge area, among other amenities that make the students and College Community proud. A Key Card access and surveillance system was added for additional security. The students have been excited with the completion of this new project.
Long Student Union Building
A major exterior facelift and renovation of the Long Student Union Building was completed and opened in November 2016. Plans and designs were developed to upgrade the dining and kitchen preparation area; enlarge space for student activities; upgrade HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems and reorganize office space. The revitalized building provides a social gathering space for the student body.
