Cossey Earns Wiley Player of the Week Award

Junior Alexander Cossey of Chicago, Illinois, was selected as Wiley Player of the Week for the dates of January 31-February 5. During the week Cossey averaged 17 points and shot 50 percent from the field as he helped Wiley defeat Bacone College 82-60. Cossey finished with 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals. A few days later he had another strong showing by filling up the stat sheet once again, scoring 14 points, dishing seven assists, grabbing six boards and three steals in a near upset of LSU-Shreveport who was ranked #3 in the NAIA at the time. In his final game of the week Cossey scored 23 points, grabbed four rebounds and had four steals to help Wiley defeat Southwestern Assemblies of God University 92-77. Cossey was also awarded the “Chicken Express Player of the Game” for his outstanding play against SAGU.
